Bus driver turned activist empowers Singapore workers

Mr Chua, a former bus driver who worked for Singapore’s largest scheduled bus operator, took to court to report the unfair work practices that he and many other colleagues faced at work.

Besides fighting for his own case, he also dedicates much of his time helping other low-wage workers in Singapore when they face disputes at work and empowers them to fight for their rights.

Inspired by his courage, I interviewed him to find out more about his motivations. I also interviewed workers’ rights activist Jolovan Wham about the general landscape of workers’ rights and union in Singapore.
